LOCAL INFORMATION

Situated in the Scottish Borders, the picturesque market town of Kelso is set on the confluence of the rivers Teviot and Tweed. The racecourse itself offers breathtaking scenery, in a plush, green setting, with all of the hospitality suites overlooking the magnificent course. Despite only having a population of over 6150, Kelso boasts a thriving community and is a town where there is always something on and something to see.

Major local events such as the annual dog show, the Border Union Trade Show, The British Motorcycle Federation Rally, The Jim Clarke Rally and the declaration of the Kelso Laddie is proof that the town is, indeed, a fantastic place for tourists to visit year after year.

Add to the previous list the fact that Kelso has two 18-hole golf-courses, an ice rink, swimming pool, rugby, cricket and football clubs, as well Floors Castle, the largest inhabited castle in Scotland and you will begin to realise that there is more to our town than meets the eye.

The jewel in the town crown is perhaps the French-style cobbled square. Situated around the town square is a selection of fine retail outlets, both national and local privately owned, where any visitor could buy the perfect gift for their loved ones back home.

In addition to the retail outlets, there are many bars and restaurants for the casual drink or meal or even the more formal occasion.

There are also many beautiful and inspiring places to visit around Kelso. Other towns and the countryside should be enjoyed by all.
