You can't beat the excitement of seeing racehorses and jockeys ride past you at full speed, right in front of your eyes. The ground vibrates at their awesome power and your heart skips a beat as you cheer your horse on, betting slip clasped tightly in your hand.
It's not surprising that every year more and more people are going horse racing and with 13 fixtures during the season at Kelso Races most of which are weekends - there are plenty of opportunities for you to join in the fun and excitement of a day at the races.
Horse racing is accessible to everyone, so whether you're going as a couple, a family or group of friends you will be sure to have a great day.
And the great news for families is that children under 18 (accompanied by an adult) go free at Kelso Races.
Kelso Racecourse is just one of of 60 racecourses spread throughout Britain.
There are two types of racing, flat racing, prominent in the summer, and jump racing which is popular in the winter. Flat racing takes place on a flat track on either turf or an all-weather surface. Jump racing is run on turf over obstacles known either as steeplechase fences or hurdles.
Kelso Races is home to jump racing, also known as National Hunt. Our season starts in October and finishes in May. Go to Fixtures for more information.
A normal race meeting consists of seven races. These vary in length and in number of runners.
As well as having a flutter on the horses, you can enjoy a wealth of catering options, from a pint in the bar, to a three course meal. If you are planning to eat, it is best to book in advance.
