FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I wear?

We do not stipulate a dress code at Kelso Racecourse, however “smart/casual” is the norm.

How do I buy tickets?

Members Badges and Paddock Tickets can be booked in advance of a race day online or by calling the Racecourse Office on 01668 280 800. Badges and tickets can also be purchased on the day, but we recommend booking in advance to avoid queuing when you arrive.

Are there any group discounts?

Any number of Members Badges or Paddock Passes which are booked and paid for in advance of the raceday receive a discount of £2 per badge/ticket.

Which enclosure should I choose?

The Racecourse has two public Enclosures on every raceday: the Members Enclosure, and the Paddock Enclosure. The Members Enclosure has a number of prime viewing positions of the course on the winning line, as well as Tote Facilities, three private Members Bars and a Charity Tea Room. The Paddock Enclosure is the larger of the two enclosures with a fantastic covered viewing area and extensive bar, with self-service food bar and betting facilities. The Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure are situated within the Paddock Enclosure and are ideal for families and group outings. The Member’s enclosure badge allows you in both enclosures.

What time should I arrive?

The gates open two hours before the first advertised race time at every meeting. If you want to have a look at the horses and get your bets on, then advise arriving in good time to get to know the layout and choose where to eat, ideally when gates open.

People in private packages and wanting to lunch before racing should aim to arrive as early as possible but hopefully an hour and half before the first race.

Horses come into the paddock 20 minutes before the first race so we strongly recommend arriving a very minimum of half an hour before the first race.

Where can I get something to eat?

Go to Eating & Drinking fore more information.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Picnics are permitted in the picnic car park on days when this facility is open. You will not be allowed to bring food or drink into the racecourse, but you will find a wealth of catering options available at the racecourse. Bringing alcohol onto the course is strictly forbidden and, if found, will be confiscated.

Are there any disabled facilities?

There are disabled viewing points and toilets in both the Members and Paddock Enclosure. There is also a lift in the Tweedie Stand for anyone needing to access the Tweedie private hospitality suites.

What happens if the race meeting is abandoned?

In the unfortunate event of a race meeting being abandoned prior to the Raceday or before the second race a full refund will be given on return of your Entrance Ticket. If the meeting is abandoned after the second race, no refund is payable.

When does the racing season start and finish at Kelso?

There are 14 Race meetings during the Season, starting in October and finishing in May. Go to Fixtures for more information.

Do you have any meetings in the summer?

As a National Hunt course staging jump meetings, we do not race during the summer.
