Racing Guide
Kelso is the home of National Hunt Racing and it's racegoers can expect the warmest of welcomes from the team.
We believe in looking after you in the proper manner...... and that's why we were voted "Britain's Friendliest Racecourse" in a Sunday Times survey. We are renowned for our friendly, fun atmosphere and together with the thrill and excitement of National Hunt Racing, a day at the races, in the heart of the spectacular Borders countryside, is a day to be remembered.
Local Information
Situated in the Scottish Borders, the picturesque market town of Kelso is set on the confluence of the rivers Teviot and Tweed. The Racecourse itself offers breathtaking scenery, in a plush, green setting. Despite only having a population of over 6150, Kelso boasts a thriving community and is a town where there is always something on and something to see.
Major local events such as the Border Union Agricultural Show, Championship Dog Show, British Motorcycle Federation Rally, The Jim Clark Rally and the declaration of the Kelso Laddie is proof that the town is, indeed, a fantastic place for tourists to visit year after year.
Add to the previous list the fact that Kelso has two 18-hole golf-courses, an ice rink, swimming pool, rugby, cricket and football clubs, as well Floors Castle, the largest inhabited castle in Scotland and you will begin to realise that there is more to our town than meets the eye.
The jewel in the town crown is perhaps the French-style cobbled square. Situated around the town square is a selection of fine retail outlets, both national and local privately owned, where any visitor could buy the perfect gift for their loved ones back home.
In addition to the retail outlets, there are many bars and restaurants for the casual drink or meal or even the more formal occasion.
If you are wishing to stay overnight (or longer!) and explore the area, we are happy to suggest some local accommodation providers, all of whom can be found here
There are also many beautiful and inspiring places to visit around Kelso with other towns and countryside to be enjoyed by all.
